The Earth gives us so much. Live each day as if it were Earth Day. Because it is.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
Make a little time to stop, look and listen.
Observe what the Earth has to offer and the beauty all around us. What an incredible place, filled with an abundance of life and all that is needed to sustain it – all in perfect balance and harmony.
Why wouldn’t we want to take care of it?
Think of all the amazing creatures who live here (the mighty and the mini). Think of the magic of the plant-life around us, which can literally heal the sick, feed the hungry and provide all the materials we need for clothing, shelter and so much more. All perfectly balanced to provide exactly what we need.
The past twelve months have certainly shown us that there has never been a better time to start thinking about and start changing how we live, what we use, how much we consume and the products that we use daily on ourselves and ultimately on our planet.
The current pandemic is showing us glimpses of how Earth would be if we lived differently; if we slowed down and lived more mindfully. If we stopped to think about what we need, as opposed to what we want or what society tells us we should have. If we choose to become consciously aware of the impact of how we live our lives on the Earth and those around us.
???
The Earth provides for us every-single-day; without question. Make a commitment today to start with one small change.
You could decide to simply start eating more greens and embark on a healthier diet, maybe even start a compost to make good use of the scraps!
You may decide to consciously avoid using plastic bags; not just at the supermarket, but everywhere and every day. If you end up with soft plastics, reuse them until they are no longer reusable and then recycle them. Most major supermarkets have now joined the Redcycle program, making it easier than ever to recycle soft plastics. Remember Reuse then Recycle.
You may decide to stop using products that are so full of chemicals that they are not only harmful to you, but also to the planet. These may be your every-day skincare products or the household cleaning products you use in and around the house. You can find lots of great options with us at Raw Cottage.
You could decide to do more gardening and plant more trees, or to just spend more quality time outside, appreciating it all. If you don’t have the time or space to DIY, our friends at 15 Trees offer a great tree planting service which will not only help you reduce your footprint, but also make you feel that little buzz that comes from doing something good; something that lasts and makes a difference!
There are so many possible changes that we can all make. Whatever you decide to do, stick with it and love that you are doing it. Maybe, after a little while, you will love it so much that you may just decide to make another change and stick with that too… until bit by bit, without even thinking about it, a new normal has taken place.
We would definitely love to hear what changes you have decided to embark on; whether you are just starting this journey or a seasoned expert with tips to share – let us know what you have committed to, to make Earth Day every day!
